I have a backlog of art from the past few months that I need to get around uploading. Don't worry, you're not looking at a massive art dump, but there will be several entries in the coming week (hopefully) of various things I've completed.

Like the following, which was actually done before the year ended as part of that weird hockey/Quidditch series I was doing... and have yet to complete like just about everything else in my life, lol.

I think up the weirdest crossovers. That really seems to just be my thing.

Anyways, in honour of the release of the first film for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and the mere coincidence that the Toronto Maple Leafs are playing the Montreal Canadiens in the NHL's 50,000th game tonight... I ended up drawing an answer to a question I was asked: What if Quidditch was hockey? Or hockey was Quidditch?

Title: The Band Plays On
Fandoms: The Beatles and Harry Potter
Characters: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Ringo Starr with mentions of/appearances by... well... the Marauders, and other characters of their generation.
Rating: G
Words: 1,212
Notes: This was inspired by fab art created by [livejournal.com profile] glockgal who has been kind enough to give permission for me to repost it here. Thank you again for the lovely muse! Feedback on her art can be left here!
Summary: Everyone thought that when the 60's ended, so did the Beatles. But in 1971 they turned up again... the muggles just didn't know it.

Beyond the blue horizon, far above the clouds in a land that no one knows, live four or five magicians who spend their days casting wonderful spells. )

So there hasn't been much activity in this DW account since shortly after the Olympics. Honestly, the last month has been pretty mad and draining with school and work and all that jazz. I haven't really produced any art or really even tried to draw anything since my last update which is very saddening and just makes me loathe education all the more.

The good news is that I'm very nearly done with the university year. As of Tuesday I will be free from the shackles of education until September. This means you'll definitely be seeing more of me, I'll have more to offer, and... um... there's some stuff to look forward to!

I owe a very awesome someone art still which will be first priority beginning next week... or rather, next weekend since I will probably crash for the next several days after school ends. I have some sketches that I want to flush out into fuller drawings, as well as a knitting project that's nearly done, and some sort of cosplay project (though most likely a Hallowe'en costume) that will occupy the summer as well.

Stay tuned some time around May for commission offerings as well. I'm planning a cross-Canada road trip once I graduate next summer (one last bash before I run out of excuses to avoid adulthood) and any little leg up I could get in saving money would be a plus. So I'll have more details about that later on.

But I'm not leaving you completely empty-handed here, for I actually did do a bit of drawing today just to reassure myself that I haven't completely lost it. Granted, I don't know how good the doodles are because I have been up for 36 hours straight and am really very exhausted and out of it. But at least I did something.

Two brief sketches from classic fandom and new fandom! )

For the past couple years, my sister's been after me every holiday to make her some art for Christmas or her birthday. I never do because I can never come up with any ideas. Also, her birthday comes at an inopportune time (read: during the school year) so I never usually have time to do anything. In retrospect, I still didn't this year, but in my current funk I seem determined to do anything except the things I HAVE to get done.

Anyways, after the Olympics were over and I began to come down from the absolute party high of the men and women winning gold in ice hockey (though decidedly more excited about the men because it was a more intense game), I went through Flickr collecting photos for a celebratory "this is how much it meant to the country" spam in my LJ just to get sore Americans (and maybe sore Russians) off my back. And I found a certain photo of a certain player who happens to be my sister's absolute favourite. And so... after about eight hours in Photoshop and experimenting with colour a little bit... I had the following.

Title: Golden Taser
Fandom: Hockey (apparently it IS a fandom)
Character: Jonathan Toews
Notes: Eight hours in Photoshop total (my secret? Grids. Always grids, been using them to recreate portraits since high school art class... it was the technique I was taught) and I'm still not sure how I feel about the colour but my sister loved it. I printed it out for her and she was thrilled. So as futile as it is to say this, I'd appreciate it if this wasn't... I dunno... stolen for anything. Though I can't exactly police that without adding hideous watermarks.

Behold, the closest you'll ever see Captain Serious come to smiling )

And why is everything I post so obscure? I never have anywhere else to post any of the things I do.

Not much to say here except for the fact that I really probably should not have spent my entire evening doing this. But the urge hit me and the drawing just happened, so what can I do? I'm a slave to my creative whims.

Title: And they're having a lovely time!
Fandom: The Beatles
Character: The red-nosed wizard McCartney
Notes: When I started, I was going to draw Paul frolicking right off a cliff like something out of 300 because I was feeling bizarre. Somehow this happened instead. (Maybe my Inner John told me it was time to take a break from picking on Macca for an evening.)

I also tried a digital inking technique. I've never inked anything in Photoshop before... I don't exactly know any good methods other than just tracing over your own line work with the paintbrush... but I'm much steadier with my own hand so I never do that. But I tried the pen tool out this time and... I'm not sure if I like it in general, but I think it suits this particular art very well.

The art and a few details below the cut! )

Wow. It's been about a month since I posted any art here. But as it happens, I fell and sprained my wrist the day after my last bit of art... so I haven't exactly been able to produce anything. Now that I'm recovered, I plan on trying to find more time to create art... but it gets kind of difficult balancing the hobby on top of school and work. Oh well. Enough rambling.

Yesterday, on [livejournal.com profile] ontd_beatles it was Dhani Day. Now seeing as I don't (or rather, didn't... that's all changed now) have any Dhani pictures to post there, I went and did what I could do - make some art. It's kind of funny that both pieces here are of entirely different quality... probably because while I can colour and make portraits digitially in photoshop (I use grids and references), I cannot cartoon on a tablet. It just doesn't work. (I thought about doing it on paper, but decided that would simply take too long.)

Title: Dhani Harrison
Fandom: er... none that I know of
Rating: G
Notes: This looked nice enough as it is though I didn't like the stark white background. I couldn't decide on how to do it though, so I just ended up putting a texture filter over top. And WOW did it do something special! You discover something new every day.

Sure he has long hair now, but I don't like guys with long hair )

Title: The Fifth Beatle
Fandom: The Beatles
Characters: All of them... plus Dhani
Rating: PG
Notes: Hastily done Photoshop comic again for Dhani Day. It's better if I don't explain it. And I'm sorry for being so mean to Paul, [livejournal.com profile] theebeatles, but he makes it so easy!

You can't say anything bad about George Harrison in a Dhani post )

Okay, so I was really bad at the dual journal thing in 2009 because... I dunno. I just was. But my big art resolution for 2010 is to make proper use of this account. I mean, I have it primarily to share my art seeing as how my LJ is primarily friends-locked and who knows? Not everyone who happens by wants to be my LJ friend. You may just want to see what fannish things I produce and that's cool. I just ought to make it easier by KEEPING THIS THING UP TO DATE.

So I'll begin with a link. In my LJ is a public entry detailing My Entire Year of Art for 2009 so instead of a mass double post here, pop on over there to catch anything you may have and probably did miss. We've got art from three Big Bangs, and a pretty decent fandom selection (Harry Potter, Marvel, Star Trek, and the Beatles) and all but two selections are completed.

Now having said that, that's not all there is to this entry. Oh no, for I already have an art piece to kick off 2010! (Because drawing is exactly what I should NOT be doing right now.) But as I said in my 2009 meme, facial hair is something I want to work on... so we're going to start off with that very thing.

Title: Dr. John H Watson
Fandom: Sherlock Holmes
Character: Watson (in this instance, the Jude Law version... who will probably end up becoming my Watson template for years to come)
Rating: G
Notes: I did not expect myself to do this sort of art because my expectations for Sherlock Holmes were disgustingly low. But it ended up being really good and just thrilled the Holmes fan in me, so there you have it. I concede. I was wrong, the movie was awesome, and I'm so glad it was!

I am so amused that his nickname is apparently 'Hotson' )

Title: This Doggie-Woggie Here's My Dog
Fandom: The Beatles
Character: George Harrison
Rating: G
Notes: I... I don't know. This just happened. Done with ink, copics, and touched up in Photoshop, I dedicate this to [livejournal.com profile] o_deanna and my cousin Jamie, the latter of who is always there to make sure George gets his fair share of love too. (Context and the art is below the cut.)

Okay! So in terms of art it's been a pretty productive couple of weeks! This is largely due to writing one fic and discovering the Star Trek Art Meme. I'll probably have a go at a couple other prompts in there over the weekend (though I have to remember to clean my room too).

Anyways! All the art in this entry is, of course Star Trek. And just so we're clear we're talking Star Trek XI. And uh... most, if not all of it is crack in some sense of the word. Because that's how I roll!

Title: On Board the Hermes
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Characters: Spock, Chekov, and a poor red shirt named Odell
Rating: The fic it's from is PG-13 but uh... I'll go with G here... PG if you want to be safe
Notes: An illustration from the fic I wrote Hermes' Messenger.
The sillohuette is supposed to be Kirk but... whatever )

Title: He's Dead, Jim!
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Characters: McCoy and Chekov
Rating: PG
Notes: Another illustration from Hermes' Messenger (geez, I sound like such a self-pimper here...). THIS ONE HAS A ZOMBIE YAY!
And still McCoy has a hypospray )

Title: On The Hunt
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Characters: Sulu
Rating: PG
Notes: Last one from the fic. Really. And why yes, that sword IS rather phallic!
What cricket bat? )

Title: You've Got Red On You
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Characters: Kirk, Scotty, and Sulu
Rating: PG?
Notes: A fullfilled prompt over at the st_fanart_meme which asked for: "Any crew member(s): Preparing/prepared/geared-up for Zombie attack." I drew a blank as to what sort of weapon Kirk should be brandishing so he has an indiscriminant metal cylinder.
Simon Pegg was in this movie! You know the joke had to be made! )

Title: This Is Not a Goddamn Sonic Screwdriver
Fandom: Star Trek XI
Characters: McCoy and a GQMF LENS FLARE!!!
Rating: G
Notes: Another one done for the meme: "McCoy a la Doctor Who - with Fourth's awesome long scarf and coat. Tardis in the bg." So the coat didn't happen... but there is a TARDIS, the scarf, and a spectacular lensflare that obscures the hypospray!
I'm a doctor, not a... a... shut up! )

There are a couple of great recs in that meme that you all have to go look at too. (Though, actually, you should look through the whole thing because it's all spectacular!)

De-aged Spock, Uhura, Kirk, McCoy, and their respective babysitters (Chekov and Sulu) by [livejournal.com profile] glockgal I WANT TO ADOPT BABY KIRK LIKE RIGHT NOW.

Winged Sulu by [personal profile] iambickilometer I was very impressed! It seemed like such a cracky prompt to me but it came looking... well... like a thing of beauty.

Chekov and Sulu eyeflirting by [livejournal.com profile] glockgal Adorable, simply adorable!

The meme is also filled with pirates, more slash, and plenty of unfullfilled prompts, so go have a look!

Tomorrow I'm off work, but instead of hanging around and indulging in home fandom, I need to do some shopping. I'm going to be searching for something to get my dad for Father's Day (not sure what) and I'm also off to buy some yarn. I found a pattern for Scotty's hat from the Star Trek movie and if I work on it and that 4th Doctor scarf this summer, by the time winter rolls around again I will be the world's greatest space hobo!

Oh yeah.

Title: Ensign Pavel Chekov
Fandom: Star Trek (sexy rebooted universe!)
Character: ...seriously?
Rating: Parental Guidance is suggested due to possibly lethal amounts of adorableness
Special Note: Did this especially for all the Chekov fans on my LJ friendslist

I can do zat!!! )

Might be the last bit of art for a little bit. I wanted to do more tomorrow and such (being my day off) but I have to replace the nib in my tablet pen and have lost my little baggy of extra ones... and my brother says he has no idea what he did with his either. *sigh*

Oh well... I'm thinking I'm going to go ahead and write that zombie Trek fic I was kicking around and plotting all day. We'll see how that goes... and if it ever sees the light of... um... fandom.

The year of school and exams are all done and over with. I am done with that campus until September now! Now I start longer hours at work next week so it's not exactly like I'll have spare time now, what with having only Fridays and Sundays off. WHY!?!

BUT THAT IS NOT NEWS. What IS news is that last weekend I finally saw Star Trek? And guess what? Due to the combined efforts of several loveable fandom friends... IT'S SUCKED ME IN. THERE IS NO ESCAPE FROM IT'S PARASITIC CLUTCHES.

So we're entering the world of fan art now! I hope to have something more substantial and done much better in the near future (I don't go into work until 6 today so I have the whole day to do stuff!), but for now... enjoy a cute little picture of Kirk, McCoy, and metroids that you KNOW will not end well.

Title:This will not end well.
Fandom: Star Trek (reboot)
Characters: Kirk, McCoy, and metroids! (lol Nintendo)
Rating: G
Medium: Copics

But they're so CUTE! )

So let's get this account started with a little bit of art!

I finally got around to reinstalling Photoshop so I could easiy resize and edit drawings... as well as start colouring and whatnot. As such, I've got some doodles/line art I've been sitting on that I might work on in Photoshop (if I get time or as a means of extreme procrastination).

Now, on with the art! I did the following last night while watching a bit of television. But enough distraction. Art and more comments are all below the cut.

Ant Man & the Wasp in copics, G )

Finally, one last piece of art... Harry Potter related (ah, the good ol' fandom!). Resized the drawing of Lupin I did as my first drawing with copics. It's not done because I need another brown for his hair (I am so fussy with colouring hair), but I don't know when I'll get downtown to pick up a few more colours.

Remus Lupin in copics, G )

Personally, I think my sketches always look better than my big finished products. And I can't figure out why.
