Three essays in three days... done! *strikes a pause* Ta da!

I wish I could kick back and relax right now, but despite having worked like mad and written approximately twenty-four pages of scholarly writing in three days... I have a ton more work to do.

Tuesday is my in-class final for Archeology. My final Archeology assignment is also do that day. To make things a perfect trifecta, my take-home Racism exam is due Tuesday as well.

Wednesday is my in-class final for French. My take-home exam for my Gender class is due that day as well.

When I am finished all of this, I am going to celebrate by getting trashed!

Then I can devote the next several months to whatever the hell I please. Fandom ahoy!

Speaking of fandom, I had made the decision last summer to save up THIS summer so I can attend next year's ComicCon in San Diego. I was then hit with the dillemma of what costume to make. I like dressing up; it's a lot of fun, and cosplaying at Anime North last year was a ton of fun! But the problem is, well... I'm a girl. And comics fandom usually isn't too kind in it's non-scanty design of female characters. Also, most comics characters are tall. I... am not.

I do, however, make one rocking Cooking Mama!

But then, in discussing the preview image of Captain America #600 with a friend of mine, I came upon a great idea. And so, my project this summer and my future ComicCon identity will be... Rebecca Barnes! I mean, why not? I am a small enough person to play the alt!teenage sidekick, and it'd be a costume I wouldn't feel like cheap eye candy wearing, and it would be infinitely less expensive than encasing myself in Iron Man armour to hide my gender from the preying masculine masses.

Plus, you know... any and all Buckys are awesome. So who wants to be my Steve? :D

Yes, it was kind of one of those Master of the Universe moments.

RACISM ESSAY IS DOOOOOOOOOONE!!! Of course I have to finish typing it up and insert the formal references but... THE HARD PART IS DONE!!! AND I still went to work today so I made MONEY!!! And this essay is going to either be amazing or terrible!!!

I really hope I do well because I've invested so much thought, time, and passion into this paper (which I never ever do). If this comes back with a low grade I am going to take it as a personal slight against myself.

No, seriously. I just spent two hours proofreading and tweaking the language of the essay. My bibliography is over a page long. I have never EVER given this much effort to an assignment. I feel like I've really poured myself into the essay and if I don't do well I'll feel so let down. But not just for myself. I chose to write about the controvesy with the Avatar film, and blasted Paramount as perpetuating and enabling racism - primarily Orientalism. This cause is so close to the hearts of so many people I know that I really want to have done their cause justice.

Time to keep my fingers crossed and hope I really rocked it.

Now I am going to relax for an hour or so and go to bed. And tomorrow I pull another essay (this one only 2000 instead of 3000 words!) out of my ass with a SIGNIFICANTLY less amount of effort.

I am going to be DEAD by the end of this week.

So let's get this account started with a little bit of art!

I finally got around to reinstalling Photoshop so I could easiy resize and edit drawings... as well as start colouring and whatnot. As such, I've got some doodles/line art I've been sitting on that I might work on in Photoshop (if I get time or as a means of extreme procrastination).

Now, on with the art! I did the following last night while watching a bit of television. But enough distraction. Art and more comments are all below the cut.

Ant Man & the Wasp in copics, G )

Finally, one last piece of art... Harry Potter related (ah, the good ol' fandom!). Resized the drawing of Lupin I did as my first drawing with copics. It's not done because I need another brown for his hair (I am so fussy with colouring hair), but I don't know when I'll get downtown to pick up a few more colours.

Personally, I think my sketches always look better than my big finished products. And I can't figure out why.

So, Dreamwidth, eh? Supposed new fandom paradise. We'll see how that goes.

Nothing much here at the moment, but I figured new journal... time to christen it with an entry.

I'm thinking of using this place strictly for fandomy things. Art? Fic? Fandom endeavours? All here. For the mundane "this is going on in my life right now" stuff, LJ will still be there for that (plus fandom stuff).

So then! Here we are! Maybe I'll get some art done tonight for a first proper post. We shall see. In the meantime, I'll throw up a couple of links!
